But the understanding is that afterward one reaches Heaven in doing so. That is the expectation for doing such a thing. What is to say that something like this does not happen here again when that ending can be carelessly thrown to the side as death is in this place?
CW: Reference to the mass sacrifice/suicide
[An ominous statement indeed.]
Indeed in my own case, I presumed it would be a matter seen by others and not myself. Regardless of that fact, there is indeed a sacrifice to be made. Each death after all, takes something from us, however small. That means something, even if many think other wise.

Each death takes something from us? That... that is the nature of when there is brain death in general, which obviously is what happens when someone dies. Though if one is revived here, then that is a moot point?
[Sorry, Jonathan, guess who did not get or understand the memo about losing things through multiple deaths.]

Oh goodness.
I hadn't realized you weren't informed-
Enrico, we stand a great and growing risk of losing literal memories of our lives prior this place upon death. It's almost guaranteed in fact.

It takes him a bit to actually reply, typing and then deleting, over and over again. This place had already temporarily changed them and twisted their memories before. Had implanted false memories, changes in their history.
But to permanently do so in exchange for coming back?]
It truly feels as if this place is merely a disguised Purgatory.

If I didn't know better, I would say you wished to be a martyr.

I simply felt that given the opportunity to restore something for the people who live here naturally, I ought do just that. It was my own mistakes which led to it in the first place. I and those who took part in the space launch failed to properly research the possible risks of our actions- and as such, a quite permanent change overtook everything.
To see it even somewhat restored is a great relief, but to see it in person at all is far beyond what I could have asked. What mattered was simply that the people here not be forced to barter for food and drink from beings that might so choose to sup upon their flesh and souls.

If one were to have known what the consequences would have been, it could have been avoided. For however brief the damage was done, it could have been mitigated and prepared for instead. And yet I still hear tale of many claiming it is because we are favored by that false god who truly seems to know nothing of any of this or that this would have worked.
Though, Jonathan, I must insist that you take into consideration the loss of yourself to those who do care about you if something like this were to happen again. Sometimes it is more important to consider the minority instead of the majority.

[And....what-]
I
Pardon?
[What, what ever could be meant here, what, ahah]

Which part do I need explain? [Nailed it. Can't say something stupid and might regret later if you have specific instructions.]

[Because of course this is a problem.]

I feel I should ask why this has come up at least once before and what you think I'm insinuating?
no subject
I cannot bear the thought- and for myself, who would otherwise have long been deceased, I would trade mine to preserve the lives of those who yet have a road ahead of them in a heartbeat.
[....................And he has.]

Though that is not what I was trying to say. I am saying to think about the people around you: the people that care about you and to think about how they may feel about your actions. How what you may do will impact them and if it is still something you should be doing. While we have control over ourselves, what we do will still impact those around us.
Particularly given this losing parts of yourself after dying, I would say it's even more important that you keep that in mind. Because without your memories, your lived experiences, are you truly still the same person?
no subject
I do assure you I do not intend to be so frivolous with my life under typical circumstances; I do apologize for the fright to that end in fact. Certainly, I expected not to wake from this, but it was rather a matter of weighing the costs. A great many of those I knew were suffering already- therefore as well, I sought to pay that price.
I'll not simply be running into the sword otherwise, I assure you!
[JONATHAN.]
no subject
How many times have you died in this place thus far?
no subject
I've been told this is apparently quite phenomenal, most suffer greater by this point apparently.
no subject
Somehow that doesn't surprise me, given how people seem to act around here. But I reiterate my point, once again, especially with the loss nonsense.
It may be better for some people to lose memories here, but for others, I'd say it'd be quite the opposite.
[Something something Jonathan is basically a Saint and he'll be damned if this place screws that over.]
no subject
...
They would definitely go in circles.
So, instead-]
Will it perhaps help if I swear that I do not intend to so lightly re-tread such a path?
no subject
That's perhaps the best I can ask from you in this situation. I take it that you're back home now?
no subject
Do you fancy a visit perhaps?
no subject
If you feel up to it, I certainly wouldn't decline.
